Seniors Go Bare For Charity

It’s not quite the “Full Monty,” but a 2010 calendar of nearly nude seniors from a retirement community in Virginia Beach was unveiled this week and is already showing signs of being a huge success — no doubt in part because of a surge in the number of seniors as Baby Boomers hit retirement age.

The calendar features men between the ages of 69 and 90 from Atlantic Shores Retirement Community. The men agreed to pose for the calendar to raise money for their local rescue squad, the Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad.

“The seniors went above and beyond what a normal person and/or group or community would do for us and this is just…we’re flabbergasted,” Richard Otto of the PA Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad told Wavy.com, the Web site for local station WAVY-TV 10.

And wouldn’t you know it, the calendar is a huge hit! Even before it went to print last week, 2,000 copies had already been pre-sold. Each calendar is $14.

“I have five calendars and I just think it’s wonderful what the men did,” one woman told Wavy.com.

For those who’d like to support the Atlantic Shores rescue squad, or even just satisfy their curiosity, the calendar is available for purchase here.
