Nelly Furtado appears to be getting a little flirty with the Spanish language.
The Grammy-winning singer, known for such hits as “I’m Like a Bird,” “Say It Right,” “Give It to Me” and “Promiscuous,” has recorded in Spanish and Portuguese before, most notably with her Latin hits “Te Busqué” with Juanes and “No Hay Igual” with Calle 13. Her last album, the smash-hit “Loose,” likewise became a worldwide phenomenon, topping all global music sales for 2007. With a firm embrace from music fans around the world, Furtado follows up “Loose” — not with another standard pop album — but with her first-ever Spanish-language album, Mi Plan.
“Mi Plan is my first full collection of Spanish-language pop songs,’” said Furtado. “The songs explore themes of love and the rhythm of everyday life. The featured special guests will also add a unique touch to the album’s sound. And I am delighted to be working with the entire Universal Latin team on this new project.”
While the new disc doesn’t drop until Sept. 29, the Canadian singer is set to overtake the radio waves on Monday when she debuts her lead single, “Manos Al Aire” (“Hands in the Air”). Click here for a sneak peak of the new single.
