Olivia Munn Wants to Skype Chat With You

olivia_munn.jpgDoSomething.org and HP just launched their “Green Your School” contest to encourage young people to use technology to find innovative ways to fight climate change.

They couldn’t have chosen a better spokesperson. Olivia Munn, the star of Perfect Couples and The Daily Show, appeals to the jock and the nerd. If she told legions of young men to steal the Hope Diamond, they’d do it. So convincing them to go green shouldn’t be a problem.

“We don’t always have the resources or money to do everything we want to do, but we can all do a little something to make our Earth healthier,” Munn says. “By now, I think we can all agree it’s not just hype — the earth needs our help. If you have an idea that can help and the ability do something with it, you should. We’ve run out of excuses. It’s time to make our own changes.”

Students who submit their ideas can win HP mini laptops for their school and themselves, a $5,000 grant and $1,000 scholarships and — OMG! — a Skype chat with Olivia Munn. The school with the most students participating will win a green prom.

Last year’s grand prize winner was San Marcos High School. Students there collected 3,500 bottles to signify the 3,500 that are thrown away every second in the US.

Young people can enter this year’s contest through April 1. It’s definitely worth applying. But don’t take it from us. Take it from Olivia:
