‘House’ Star Wilde Among Celebs to Auction Off Globes Outfits

oliviawilde.jpgDid you love Olivia Wilde’s red carpet look at last night’s Golden Globe Awards? How about Amy Poehler’s or Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) winner Meryl Streep’s? Now you have the chance to buy those celebrities’ — and others’, including Gerard Butler’s and Josh Brolin’s — Golden Globes outfits as part of Artists for Peace and Justice’s Relief for Haiti’s Charity Auction.

In honor of the House star’s donation of the form-fitting metallic Gucci dress she wore, Tiffany & Co., who provided Ms. Wilde with her jewels for the night, will be donating $10,000 to Artists for Peace and Justice, a group that funds hospitals, schools and orphanages in Haiti. Wilde became involved with the group this past December, when she traveled to Haiti to help build a school with the organization.

The actress spoke to MTV on the Globes’ red carpet, saying, “It’s a really cool thing and hopefully we can turn all this fashion coverage into something positive.” Meryl Streep echoed this sentiment in her acceptance speech last night for her performance as Julia Child in Julie & Julia: “I come to Golden Globes weekend and I am conflicted how to have my happy movie self in the face of everything I’m aware of in the real world.” One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction, which will begin next week on eBay, will go directly toward the relief effort in Haiti. It is always inspiring to see celebrities use the wealth of resources they have readily available to help others in the face of tragedy.
