Children in Need Concert Adds a Knight

Take That singer Gary Barlow already assembled a killer line-up for his Children in Need benefit, but the concert just turned epic with the recently announced headliner: Sir Paul McCartney.

That’s right, the knighted Beatle will headline the Nov. 12 concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, joining such other U.K. chart-toppers as Muse, Leona Lewis, Snow Patrol, Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal. BBC One will also broadcast the concert sometime that weekend and air highlights on BBC Radio on Nov. 19 in anticipation of the charity’s Nov. 20 fundraising drive.

Children in Need, founded in 2002, help needy children, college students and the elderly in the rural villages of India. The non-profit foundation currently sponsors about 2000 children and students and 50 elderly individuals, and they’ve established numerous schools, boarding homes, a elderly care home, a community health center and a training center for rural women in India. They are also involved in reforestation in the country.
