Some brands just have a magic mojo — the “it” factor — that makes you can’t help but love them. Loomstate is one of those labels, thanks to easy, unfussy designs that are all made from organic fabrics. These are simply the type of clothes you want to wear every day, team with everything in your wardrobe, and let become a virtual second skin.
Loomstate’s much-anticipated collaboration with Target launched this weekend. If you live in Manhattan — which is, alas, Tar-jay free — you hopefully snagged the chance to get a great deal on the brand’s designs, albeit through a very unlikely source. This past Saturday, Barneys New York hosted a special Loomstate event at its Madison Avenue flagship. Shoppers could bring in any old T-shirt, hand it in for recycling, and get 20 percent off any new Loomstate purchase. Fred’s Restaurant, one of the few spots in New York where fashionistas really do chow down, even set up a special bake sale with organic chocolate chip cookies and other snacks just outside the Loomstate department.
But don’t worry, you can still take part in the feel-good dose of decadence. For west coast Loomstate fans, a similar event is being held at Barneys’ Beverly Hills location on April 25. Who said dropping off recyclables couldn’t be glamorous?
Loomstate’s idea of recycling the tees that come in isn’t to dump them into a big blue bin. The shirts that are collected will be repurposed into new designs that will be sold around the holidays. But if you can’t wait until then, there are plenty of stylish choices available now, like this linen and organic cotton dress, which is a Barneys exclusive.
