Reebok designed its first athletic show specifically for women in 1982, and now, 27 years later, they are launching a new fitness regimen geared for women in the Middle East. “JUKARI Fit to Fly” is the name of the game and it’s maybe no surprise that, as the company is in partnership with Cirque du Soleil, the workout would include trapeze-like swinging piece of equipment that hangs from the ceiling (something you can imagine those Cirque performers twirling around on).
Reebok engineered the high-flying apparatus with the idea of appealing to those whose exercise mindsets conjure up repetitive and boring workouts. Not so with the Jukari (which comes from the Italian word “to play”). Up to 12 women at a time can hang on to the equipment known as FlySets, while going through a series of cardio moves, core work and more with a trained instructor. The workout debuted here in the spring, and the first Jukari-Fit to Fly enabled gym will be located in Dubai and will launch in Sept. 2009.
