Fifty-eight-year-old Golden Globe Award winner Roseanne Barr has left her sitcom days way behind her and is now living on a 50-acre farm in Hawaii. Say whaaat?
With the company of bees, goats, a black sheep named after her, more than 5,000 nut trees and her family, she’s happier than ever before. ”I’m a farmer now, and it’s fantastic,” Barr says. “My goal is to be totally self-sufficient and grow everything that I eat. There’s something about earning your dinner that’s cool.”
In an interview with Oprah, she opened up about her troubling childhood, her three divorces and her mental health issues and shared how she finally found balance. “I meditate so I know how to find a peaceful place within to be calm and peaceful … I am very content.”
While the wild outdoors at her fingertips has helped her find peace, don’t be mistaken, she’s still her old crazy self, just a better version. “I’m coming back down to earth and keeping it real. They’ve said ‘Roseanne’s nuts’ for years, and now I’m going to make that a reality — I’m all about nuts now, macadamia nuts!”
Her third and newest book Roseannearchy: Dispatches From the Nut Farm is available on Amazon and it has just been confirmed that she will star in a 16-episode reality TV show on Lifetime. Why?
Barr explains, “The gorgeous greenery, the ocean in the distance, the sound of the rain that keeps it all lush and fragrant: It’s a sweet slice of heaven, and I hope everyone can find their own little slice of that, wherever they are.” We do too!
