If you’re in Miami for the Super Bowl this weekend and want some celebrity-filled entertainment, this is for you. Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are hosting the Saturday Night Spectacular, an annual fundraiser that features celebrity attendees, a poker tournament and live entertainment, including Jim Karol (The “Psychic Madman”) and the performance troupe Cirque USA.
Taking place at the Bank of America Tower in downtown Miami from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. this Saturday, the event will benefit Generation Rescue, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for autism. McCarthy’s son, Evan, developed autism at age 2, and McCarthy and Carrey have since become vocal proponents for autism research. McCarthy has talked in the past about the connection between vaccines and autism, and that debate continues to rage today.
For those interested in playing some poker, the no limit Texas Hold ‘em event starts at midnight, with 30 players (including 15 celebrities) vying to win the “1st Annual Big Kahuna Poker Title.” The winner of the tournament will get an all-expense-paid trip for two to the 2011 Super Bowl in Dallas. In addition, $10,000 will be donated in the winner’s name to Generation Rescue.
