We’ve told you about Sears Billion Points video contest before, but in case you need a refresher, watch the video below. The retail giant wants to hear your ideas on how you would spend $1 million (the equivalent to 1 billion Shop Your Way Rewards points). Oh, and they’re giving that $1 million away too! And here’s where it gets interesting: You can only keep half for yourself. The other half has to go entirely to a favored cause of the Sears group (Rebuilding Together, March of Dimes, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital), or $250,000 goes to one of those three organizations while the rest (of the charitable $500,000 portion) goes to a nonprofit of your choosing.
We got so excited about the contest here at Tonic, that we made a video of our own.
The Ladies Man Serenades
The last serenade we received came from a mixtape. It’s been awhile, which is why we couldn’t help but smile (and vote) for Robert in Michigan. He says, “If I had a billion points, I’d spend it on you … I’d give you all my loving cause my heart is what you need … All these points are spent on you because no other girl does like you, yeeeeaaaaahhhh.” If Robert can open his heart on camera, in the middle of Sears, in front of all his coworkers, we think he’d confidently know how to spend $1 million on making women happy.
Kids Are Our Future, Dudes!
This father and son team is “totally psyched” about giving back to themselves, their K-Mart manager and children worldwide. “I’m psyched about St. Jude’s … because children are our future, you know?” Robert says. “Totally buy Charles, the manager, something because he is the man!” His son wants an X-Box 360 Elite, we’re guessing, to save the world one level at a time.
Charity Sing-Along-Song
Attention American Idol judges! Joshua from Ohio is in need of some cash, and if he doesn’t get it through Sears, we think this acoustic guitar hero could be a contestant next season. He wrote this cute, 45-second jingle: “If I won a billion points, I’d probably pass out. But when I regained consciousness, I know without a doubt, I would give to Rebuilding Together, so they could build people homes. And I’d give to United Way, so those in need are not alone … To my family, I’d give a house without the mold, so that they could be healthy when they are at home … so vote for us please.” If nothing else, you’ve got to love that the Midwesterner exhibits politesse.
Sears is a sponsor of Tonic’s Thoughtbubble.
