Shakira’s Barefoot Foundation Builds a New School
On Sunday, Colombian pop princess Shakira met Sean Penn, who is also providing humanitarian aid at refugee camps, and to child survivors of the Haiti earthquake in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Her charity, Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation, is searching for suitable land to build a school for needy children.
She explained that the school would be modeled after similar establishments also created by Barefoot. The nonprofit provides education, nutrition and psychological support to over six thousand Colombian children displaced by violence.
Shakira said that providing education to Haitian children would be a key part of the reconstruction of the quake-shattered country.
Billboard reports, “We’ve come to make all the preparations to be able to start the building of a school here in Haiti,” she said. “We need to think about the future of this country and of how Haiti’s children can be useful to their societies tomorrow… Education is one of the fundamental tools with which to develop and rebuild Haiti.”

To say this blondie has ‘put in time’ under the knife, would be an understatement. Not even Barbie looks this fake. 23-year-old Heidi Montag had 10 operations and has finally reached … perfection? What would a girl who was already beautiful possibly do to look better?

Nonetheless, I am happy to say that Heidi has decided to use her new little bod for good. Montag and boyfriend, Spencer, visited Camp Pendleton on Thursday to offer their support to the Marines. She explains, “We wanted to take the time to honor them and pay our respects to the Marines who make this country and nation possible and allow us all the freedoms that we enjoy.”

Fox News announced that President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle will make an appearance during the American Idol charity performance, Idol Gives Back airing on April 21! The special is a two-hour extravaganza that has already raised more than $140 million in contributions for global organizations.
This year, money is being raised for the Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s US Programs and the United Nations Foundation.
