There are countless ways to raise money for causes, such as racing rubber ducks, hosting a house party, clicking a mouse or throwing a surf festival. And just when I thought I’d encountered every possible option, I’ve come to realize I was wrong. Apparently, by simply getting clean, you can help fund cancer research.
Actress Felicity Huffman (of “Desperate Housewives”) has partnered with philosophy and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in the battle against women’s cancers. Back in 2002, lifestyle brand philosophy created shower for the cure, a “3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath” that has all of its proceeds donated to the Women’s Cancer Research Fund of EIF. Huffman is set to star in a PSA encouraging others to visit the shower for the cure Web site and contribute a line to the “unforgettable” poem, as well as donate money to the above EIF fund.
Other actors, including Rita Wilson, Lisa Kudrow and Blythe Danner, have already contributed a line to the poem. At the end of the campaign, each line submitted will be considered for placement on special bottles of shower for the cure that will be sold in October of 2010.
As philosophy’s Karolyn Stayer said in this CSRwire release, “Our philosophy is you’re going to shower anyway; why not shower for a cause.”
Hard to argue with, isn’t it?
