Smooth Operator

robthomas-orsolyaviragRob Thomas first came to fame singing hits like “Push” and “Bent” with Matchbox Twenty and helping Carlos Santana land his most recent chart-topper as the guest vocalist on “Smooth.” Thomas, who just released his second solo album Cradlesong, is now extending his creative reach into fashion as well.

The singer teamed up with Bloomingdale’s and Lyric Culture for a new limited edition collection that debuted last week. The clothing line features images and designs inspired by hits from the whole of Thomas’ music career, including a tank top (which comes with a free Bloomy’s gift) sparked by his new single “Her Diamonds.” A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, a nonprofit started by the singer and his wife Marisol that focuses on urban city issues like homeless and hunger.

Thomas, who lent his autograph to the items, is the first contemporary artist to collaborate with Lyric Culture and the high-end retailer. Past participants include the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.
