Snoop Dogg Rings the Bell

snoopdogg.jpgMonday morning, Snoop Dogg got a chance to ring the opening bell and start the trading day at the New York Stock Exchange. He’s taking part in NYSE’s annual Mentoring Madness event. “There were a lot of important mentors in my life,” he told Maria Bartiromo, CNBC’s “Money Honey” when she chatted with the rapper.

Joining the organization’s founder, Blake Mycoskie, who created TOMS Shoes, and other top executives, the group of enterpreneurs spoke about the secrets of their success. Snoop told Bartiromo whom he most looked up to for support growing up in Long Beach: “… school people, the counselors, my preachers, my peers, older guys who had been in trouble before me who recognized my talent … they didn’t [want to] see me go through the same situations that they went through.”

It’s all a part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Throughout the week, the goal is to encourage youth to connect through global activities designed to help them explore their potential. In addition to covering the event, MTV launched their new show, Movers & Changers, a nationwide search to discover young entrepreneurs advancing social change.
