Happy Hanukkah … Now Buy a Snuggie Already

picture_1.pngToday is the first day of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, and for the next eight days, millions of people around the world will be praying, singing, celebrating, playing dreidel and lighting a candle each evening on the nine-branched menorah. So why not have all this fun … while wearing a Snuggie?

Recently the company released a commercial with an extended family standing around a piano in their various printed Snuggies singing, “I bought my friend a Snuggie, for Hanukkah this year …  Oy! … I’m gonna wear a Snuggie, for each of the eight nights … Happy Hanukkah!”

Don’t be mistaken, you don’t have to be Jewish to wear a Snuggie for the week, and you also don’t have to be raised Jewish to appreciate this holiday. As Rabbi Levi Simon says, “It’s really a message of universal freedom. Anyone — especially in the United States, where, thank God, we have a country founded on freedom — can take advantage of the freedom we have and use it toward a good purpose to do good deeds, serve God and make the world a little brighter.”

So I guess part of that freedom would be wearing a Snuggie to the dining room table? That is, if your mom would allow it.
