Five-year-old Adam, in remission for leukemia, dreams about meeting his hero Mickey Mouse at Disney World. Shay, a 14-year-old born with osteogenesis imperfect (brittle bone disease), imagines what the Caribbean‘s white sandy beaches would be like. Andrew, a 17-year-old left wheelchair-bound by cancer of the nervous system, thinks about owning a laptop and DJ equipment.
These three youngsters are part of vitamin maker Nature Made and The Dream Factory‘s Give a Smile program, which raises money to fulfill their dreams. For every tweet, they’ll contribute $1 to their cause. Just add the hashtag #giveasmile to any 140-character or fewer message, and cash will race around the world to make Adam, Shay and Andrew smile.
Or, if you’re more prone to using Facebook, become a fan of Nature Made, or comment or “Like” a Give a Smile update on their Facebook page, and the company will donate $1. Add a happy photo of your own to the initiative’s bulletin board, and $2 will be donated. To make a $5 dent in a several-thousand-dollar goal (As of Tuesday afternoon, they reached almost 10 percent of its goal), install the Give a Smile widget on every one of your social networks.
Each altruistic social action is easily executed with a click of a button or two at the Give a Smile homepage, where you can learn a bit about the modest dreams of the three kids who stand to benefit from the program.
See? We told you it was simple.
