It’s not Valentine’s Day, but you’d never know that from looking at the Starbucks Love Project Web site. It’s all red and spangled with hearts and doves, and the sentiments are as heartfelt as the graphics.
Except for the part where you have to spend $15, but nothing’s perfect, right?
Here’s the idea: You spend 15 big ones at any participating Starbucks, and you get both a CD called All You Need Is Love, featuring the likes of U2 and John Legend, and the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing a dollar has been donated on your behalf to the Global Fund, which fights AIDS in Africa.
If you want to nickel-and-dime (well, actually, nickel-and-nickel) the Global Fund, use a (STARBUCKS) RED Card for the $15 purchase, because Starbucks will donate five cents for that and an additional five cents each time you use the card for the rest of the year, according to Starbucks’ blog.
Not only that, but if you create a “love drawing” on the Web site, you’ll spur yet another five cent donation to the Global Fund. And then you’ll have a Valentine to reuse in February, so it’s win-win-win.
