Wanna get a girl? Your chances are greater if you’re a guy who just can’t wait to get his hands on a load of laundry, a stack of dirty dishes or a grimy floor.
According to an Oxford study, women in Great Britain, Scandinavia and the United States are all on the lookout for men willing to take on household chores. And, when “women’s work” is valued by both genders, women are more likely to say “yes” when their fella pops the question (the question being “wanna shack up?”). As a result, the population is rising faster in more egalitarian countries.
According to a study described in Science Daily, “the findings would predict that the average British woman was 8.5 percentage points more likely than a similar Australian woman to be in a live-in relationship.” So where does America stand?
Perhaps not surprisingly, the good old USA is not among the top three most egalitarian nations. Here are the “first world” countries in order of their egalitarian status: Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, United States, Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Austria and Australia.
So if you’re not having any luck with the ladies, guys, you probably need to clean up your act — and your apartment.
