So it’s finally happened. Fortune has smiled down upon you. You’ve been scouring the asphalt arteries of Gotham for days, weeks, months — what seems like an eternity — and then Boom! You flag a cab, and as you jump inside the driver says, “Weah ya goin’?” with a Brooklyn accent so thick you’d need a knife to slice it. Suddenly the headliner starts splashing multi-colored light like a hyper-tense Christmas tree as host Ben Bailey (pictured here) whips around, wrinkles his forehead and alerts you that — you guessed it — “You’re on Cash Cab!”
Could it be? Have your five nanoseconds of fame finally arrived? You’re the star of Cash Cab, your favorite game-show-on-wheels. And then, what do you know, as soon as Ben throws it into high gear, pulling out toward your destination some 36 blocks away … Wham! It’s a RED LIGHT CHALLENGE!!!
Life just doesn’t get any better than this. Usually, Baily’s questions are fairly tough, but you feel prepared for practically any curve the guy throws your way. This time, it’s an easy one, and you secretly praise the gods for your good luck as Ben’s eyes grab yours in the rear-view and he pitches you the throwaway wringer: “Name the three components of the Triple Bottom Line for a Corporate Sustainability business model.”
“Man,” you’re thinking. “Only an idiot would need to use a Shout Out on this one.” After all, you just finished reading Richard Seireeni’s February book release, The Gort Cloud, and you’re thoroughly versed on corporate greening, green marketing, green-washing, green everything. You contemplate your place as a speck of matter in the vast galaxy of conscientious consumers as you throw Bailey your best wisdom-glazed stare back through the rear-view and say, “People, Planet, Profit.” And by pulling that smidgen of knowledge from your hip pocket, you’re instantly $250 richer before you’ve even covered the first block of your journey. Yep, it’s shaking out to be a pretty good day.
