The Tonic family was saddened — yet hopeful — to learn that longtime friend Tara Subkoff has been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. According to an email published by New York Magazine, the actress and designer will undergo treatment in August, and the outlook appears good. If left untreated, Subkoff could have two years to live.
Friends are holding a benefit cocktail reception and silent auction/art benefit on July 15 in New York City to help offset the costs of Tara’s upcoming surgery and medical care. The group is also looking for NYC artists to donate artwork for they auction. Additionally, it will also include 200 personal pieces in Subkoff’s Imitation of Christ clothing line. Those unable to attend the event are welcome to donate directly to her medical fund.
Subkoff designed one of the very first and original Tonic T-shirts, the Tonic Education Tee, in 2007. Our thoughts are with Tara and her family, and we’ll be sure to update her story as it develops.
