With Valentine’s Day around the corner, retail giant Target is spreading some of its own love in the form of a $1 million donation to a collection of charities. That’s nothing new for Target. The company gives away an impressive $3 million a week to organizations working around the country in education, the arts, social services, and volunteerism.
What’s novel this Valentine’s is the Super Love Sender campaign on Target’s Facebook Page, which invites page visitors to upload personal photos to use in fun Valentine’s video cards that support selected charities. The charity chosen by the card-giver receives a vote for each card sent.
The five charities in the running — Kids In Need Foundation, United Through Reading Military Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, United Way and The Salvation Army — will split the $1 million based on the percentage of votes that each receives.
“At Target, we continually look for unique ways to interact with our guests and provide them with the opportunity to participate in our charitable giving,” said Laysha Ward, president of community relations for the company.
The campaign runs through February 14, so send off your cards — and get your votes in — now.
