The Brief, March 27: Boxed Water, Lights Out

Thirsty? Drink up your Friday Brief. Whether it’s Phix you’re craving or scalding hot tea: Read up first. And if you’re just looking for some tried-and-true hydration, skip the Evian and try boxed water instead. Perhaps you’re looking for something more glamorous? Sip champagne at a fancy restaurant; they’ll even help you afford it. From haggling to toddlering, here are a handful of links true to the Tonic name. Then cut out of work early. There’s a happy hour going on somewhere in the world.

  • Fine dining for the rest of us.
  • Mom shares her own formula for happiness.
  • Small silver lining in a horrific attack — playing dead saved this man’s life.
  • Haggle away. From rent to radishes, seems everything’s up for negotiation these days.
  • Toddlers get an excuse for being ornery. Can the same apply to grownups? (Please?)
  • “From the Great Pyramids to the Acropolis, the Eiffel Tower to Sears Tower …” Sounds like Earth Hour is poised to leave a dark and powerful impression.
  • Make mine iced, please. Too hot tea may be more than just an annoyance.
  • Nazanin is not alone in her crusade for women’s rights. Check out Fatima’s photography and commentary. Her story will surely give you gratitude … and motivation for action.
  • Bottled water has a justified bad rap. Say hello to water-in-a-box.
