
Just when you thought Google couldn’t get any cooler, it does.
This morning the company launched the Google Art Project, bringing the world’s most renowned paintings to your fingertips.
What does that mean?
Google teamed up with 17 of the most prestigious art museums on the planet, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Using their street view technology, they created an easy way for users to explore thousands of famous works of art in high resolution, without waiting in those exhausting long lines.
Although nothing is ever like the real thing, while you’re virtually traveling around the world through decades of classics, one of the best features is the option to start your own personal artwork collection and share it with friends.
