The Grilled Cheese Truck

It’s our opinion that some of the best vittles out there come from a truck or a cart: Hot dogs, gyros, soft pretzels, ice cream –delish! But even with the countless carts throughout the country, one ooey gooey comfort food is still sorely lacking: grilled cheese.

Enter Dave Danhi. According to a story in today’s LA Times, the former chef aims to get a Grilled Cheese Truckrolling through the streets of Los Angeles by October of this year. Danhi plans to serve up traditional grilled cheese sandwiches, as well as a few fancy ones, like a caprese and a California melt with turkey, bacon, tomato, avocado, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese.

Danhi even plans to feature a few dessert sandwiches, like vanilla-poached apricots with mascarpone or goat cheese. Side dishes will include tomato soup (obviously), pickles and either tater tots or french fries. We think nothing pairs better with grilled cheese and tomato soup than a nice, crunchy tot, but you can vote for your potato preference on Twitter.

The funny thing is, Danhi tells the LA Times that he doesn’t even really like grilled cheese. Luckily, we do, and next time we’re in L.A., we’re hunting down that truck!
