Break out the leg warmers ladies and gentlemen, the Jane Fonda Workout is back!
Fonda, who is largely credited with starting the home video workout craze with her 1982 debut, Workout Starring Jane Fonda, is ready to target the demographic that she, at 72, is in and feels has been left out. The workout for boomers and beyond is for “people who have stopped working out, or never did, “Fonda told the Telegraph. Adding, ” I can’t wait.”
Fonda, a two-time Oscar winner, political activist and author, will start filming the DVD in March with an expected release in 2011, and she’s asking for creative input on such things as what she should wear in the DVD on her blog JaneFonda.com.
Not that what she wears will matter too much. Fonda’s first video is still the highest-selling home video of all time, according to her website, with 17 million copies having been sold. If even half of the fans from when she was fit and fabulous in her forties are still interested in her now, sexy in her seventies, she’ll do fine. Even after having had a hip replacement, knee surgery and suffering from hereditary osteoarthritis, Fonda still has a youthful energy that has seen her through Hollywood, high-profile marriages and her health problems, which shows she’s still got it. That she’s reaching out to remind others that they still do, too is a wonderful sign of solidarity in the “you’re only as old as you feel” realm.
Proving that point, Fonda’s next goal is to hike the Himalayas. If anyone can do it, Barbarella can.
