The LBD That’s Your New BFF

You can never have enough little black dresses, particularly when they’re flattering, feminine and flirty. So even if your closet is packed with more black items than the Moleskine factory, it’s still worth considering adding this versatile party dress from Sue Wong to your collection.

Not familiar with Sue Wong? You’ve probably been seeing her designs at proms, weddings and bar mitzvahs for years. Her dresses aren’t astronomically priced, have lots of details like ornate beading, and are easy to find at stores like Neiman Marcus and on sites like edressme. Red carpets might be great for celebrities, but when real people want to look beautiful for a big event, Sue Wong’s who they turn to.

And you can feel good about Wong for more than just her dressy designs. For the last few years, Wong has been active in a movement to preserve a stretch of coastal land in Hawaii, where she’s based. To save a historic area in Kipahulu, Maui, Wong worked with the Maui Coastal Land Trust and put her money where her mouth is — by buying the land and promising to maintain and preserve it.

If that makes you want to support Wong but you just can’t squeeze another black dress into your wardrobe, you’re in luck: This one comes in white too. Just please don’t wear it to a wedding … unless, that is, you’re the bride.
