The Matchmaker Makes Her Own Match

Oh Patti Stanger you lovable drill sergeant of love!

Patti is the star and executive producer of the Bravo show, Millionaire Matchmaker, in which Patti hooks up (or attempts to, thus the intrigue of the show) millionaire men with worthy women. Or maybe it’s the other way around, depending on how you look at it.

Patti’s approach to matchmaking is like a playbook for love that came through the mergers and acquisitions department — but many viewers are skeptical; after all, if she’s so good at this, where’s her match (Patti is unmarried)? Sort of the cobbler has no shoes idea.

But all that has changed with the announcement this week that 48-year-old Patti has finally made her own match and is engaged to her boyfriend, Andy Friedman, 51. No word if he’s a millionaire … maybe that’s just a requirement for her business, not her personal life.

So in celebration of the happy news, let us present you with The Three Cs of a Relationship from Patti’s book, Become Your Own Matchmaker: 8 Easy Steps for Attracting Your Perfect Mate.  (And, no, they’re not Carat, Cut and Clarity.)

1. Chemistry

You know this when you feel it, though in a perfect Patti-ism she offers this assurance if you haven’t felt that zing immediately, “women are like Crock-Pots, they heat up slowly, and men are like microwaves, always ready to go.”

2. Compatibility

Are you a vegan peace-nik dating a meat-eating member of the NRA? Maybe not such a good match.

3. Communication

Make up sex after a big blow-out argument doesn’t count. Can you and yours really talk it out?
