Auto-Tune Makes a Comeback

Last month, we joined the bandwagon that declared Auto-Tune history, but maybe we spoke too soon. The over-played vocal effect might be getting a little tired in music, but Brooklyn musician Michael Gregory found an excellent use for it with the news.

Auto-Tune the News, now in its sixth installment, features a mash-up of news pundits set to R&B music. In fact, the videos often take the talking heads’ voices and puts them through the pitch-tweaking process. It’s damn hilarious!

Want to see Gregory’s brother don a gorilla outfit for a duet of sorts with Sean Hannity? It’s here. You want to hear Barbara Boxer literally sing the praises of Judge Sotomayor? Gotcha here. What about a House member getting Snoop Doggy Dogg on us talking about smoking lettuce like reefer? For shizzle. If you want to go way back before “the series,” Gregory even tackled events like the VP debates.

This is going to be big. Any chance there’s Rep. Michele Buchmann dropping some crunk or Sarah Palin turning into a songbird in the video below? You betcha!

Auto-Tune, you’ve found your new calling!
