San Antonio, Texas, today announced that it will begin converting human waste to energy, making it the first U.S. city to do so. If you live in San Antonio, I bet you didn’t know that you and your neighbors produce about 140,000 tons of “biosolids” which can be reprocessed into methane gas and eventually, natural gas.
I know that I am sitting here chuckling right now, but I have to say that recycling 90 percent of what people flush down their toilets is awesome. Just think — all of this waste will NOT head into the ocean, a river, or other waterway. We are getting there. Imagine New York or Los Angeles doing the same with its waste?! You can read more here.
