Thom Yorke Gets “Stupid”

Thom Yorke and Radiohead have always been outspoken about the environment, so it should be no surprise that the alt-rock icon contributed the title track to the upcoming global warming film “The Age of Stupid.”

The film itself is set to premiere in the US on Sept. 21 in NYC with a live digital feed to about 500 theaters around the world. Viewers will be able to watch arrivals on the green carpet (made of recycled soda bottles) to the solar-powered tent and an after-screening discussion with the likes of Nobel Prize winner Kofi Annan and “X-Files” star Gillian Anderson. There will also be a live acoustic performance by Yorke.

“The Age of Stupid” features Oscar-nominated actor Pete Postlehwaite (“In the Name of the Father,” “Usual Suspects”) as a global activist in 2055 who looks back at historic footage to see how our generation allowed the environment fall into critical mass. The film features current news clips about the pending crisis.

The film first premiered earlier this year in a solar tent in London and was digitally simulcast around the world. That premiere set a Guinnes World Record for the largest simultaneous event premiere ever. The US debut will take place as part of UN Climate Week. For information on tickets, click here.
