So we know you love your tricked out Tonic iPods. But you’ve got to be more than music aficionados.
Tonic readers are all about life, human kindness and culture. What goes better with good music and good company than good food? Well, we haven’t left you foodies out of mind when lining up our iPod auction series to benefit Music Rising. From Clinton to ScarJo, we know your interests run the gamut. And now it’s your turn. We’re bringin’ the big guns out of the kitchen at once, and we’ve got something for every taste. (Pun intended.)
So who’s on the newest list? Mario Batali, host of many a cooking show, travel companion of Gwyneth Paltrow, staple in the New York restaurant world. The red-headed gnocchi master fulfilled his end of the bargain, no doubt. With 34 — count ‘em, 34 — songs on his nano, he will not allow you to be shortchanged. Classic rock, glam rock … this guy has your rock ‘n’ roll covered. Batali’s equally esteemed business partner and chef extraordinaire Joe Bastianich delivers up a donated iPod of his own, peppered with Thin Lizzy, Grateful Dead and Johnny Cash.
Then there’s Rachael Ray, American symbol of quick cooking. Number two on her list — “Sex Bomb.” Number five? “Sex on Fire.” And number 12: “You Ready For The Floor.” Miss Apple Pie is digitizing her scandalous side for one salivating bidder. To be fair, there’s also a healthy dose of Stevie Wonder sweetness and Foo Fighter spice to keep things balanced. (Enough with the puns, you say? Not quite…)
Tom Colicchio sprinkles in some beautiful folk with Wilco, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams and Ryan Adams. The Top Chef judge of judges, who brought New York one of its most beloved restaurants, Craft, doesn’t skimp on his iPod either. With 18 songs deep, he dishes up a donation worth drooling over.
Feast your eyes on the full list here. And bid away in honor of Music Rising. More pitiful wordplay will haunt you if you don’t.
