Have you Googled anything today? Well, be sure to take a look at the Google homepage. Everyone’s talking about the balls — the bouncy Google balls that hate the mouse and go ballistic when your cursor gets near them.
Today’s Google art isn’t celebrating a birthday or announcing some new change. No. Google made their landing page extra cool today just because. That’s the kind of reasoning we really get behind here at Tonic. We love random acts of awesomeness like this.
SearchEnglineLand reports that a Google rep said today’s zany homepage “is not related to Google’s birthday but is fast, fun and interactive, just the way we think search should be.”
Does it make searching faster? No. But it makes procrastination easier!
As an expression of our gratitude, we have created this Ode to the Google Balls. It is to be sung to the tune of the holiday classic, “Silver Bells.” Lyrics below.
A Very Tonic Ode to Google Balls
Hey, it’s Monday.
No, it’s Tuesday.
What a groggy new day.
We have drowned in post Labor Day slump-ege.
Lots of coffee,
Lots of stretching,
We just couldn’t wake up.
Then we went to the Google homepage ….
Google Balls.
Google Balls.
We can’t wear white, but we’re happy.
Google Balls.
Google Balls.
Soon it will be … Halloween.
