If you are flipping out and super sad because the TiVo rejected your search for Survivor Heroes vs. Villains, it’s not because you are an overly obsessed reality TV fan. It’s because Survivor was not on this week (if you need the name of a good therapist or some Prozac, let me know because I have both). In addition to gaining an hour from day light savings time, we got an additional hour because Survivor was axed from the must-see-TV line-up. So, here is the big question we all need to answer: What should we do on a Thursday night between the hours of 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. when Survivor is not on? Here are my top 10 ideas. Feel free to comment and share your ideas as well.
1. It’s March Madness! This means it’s the perfect time to place a bet on which college basketball team will be the sole survivor of the NCAA Tournament.
2. I bet you didn’t know that Survivor auctions off all the memorabilia from each show to help raise money for charity. Check out the charities they support; Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and Operation Smile.
3. Pick up the stained green T-shirt from the floor, grab a beer and nurse the St. Patrick’s Day hangover. Or make-up your own holiday and start celebrating.
4. After polling 3 former Survivors, I have figured out the foods we all craved most was chocolate and peanut butter. Take this hour to treat yourself to some gooey gifts from Nestle. Here is a great recipe for Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.
5. Call your mom, because you know she never let’s you call when Survivor is actually on.
6. Invite 15 of your friends over for a competitive eating contest. Who ever loses is voted out of the house and sent home.
*7. Take this moment to send a note full of all your inner Survivor thoughts to evil Johnny Fairplay, the ultimate Survivor Villain. His e-mail address is dqfairplay@yahoo.com.
8. Head to the backyard with a blanket for a 60-minute star gazing session. For all the city dwellers, a couple of beach chairs and some people watching will suffice.
9. Did you know that the contestants are only allowed to bring one outfit on the show. Take this time to dig in your closet for that one outfit to donate … or burn in a campfire.
10. Stop cheering from the sidelines! Now is the time to make your three minute video and visit CBS for an application to be on the next season of Survivor. This is your chance of winning 1 million dollars.
