It sounds like a no-brainer that U2 would perform at one of Bono’s (RED) Nights shows especially since the band would be in attendance, but it’s taken until now for the Irish rockers to officially join the Oct. 4 lineup. And you thought tickets were selling fast before!
The show itself is titled “Hal Willner Presents: An Evening with Gavin Friday and Friends” and takes place at New York’s historic Carnegie Hall. Performers already include Scarlett Johansson, Courtney Love, Maria McKee, the Pogues’ Shane MacGowan, Chloe Webb, Laurie Anderson, Lydia Lunch, Flo & Eddie of the Turtles, Martha Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright and naturally Gavin Friday with members of the Virgin Prunes. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Bono, coincidentally, is a childhood friend of Friday.
Tickets start at $35 for the nose bleed balcony section and go up to $250.
