Find Out Which Countries Are Best for Kids, USA Is Not Among Them

It’s good to be a kid in Denmark and Switzerland.

That’s the message from a new report from the UNICEF Innocenti Reseach Centre called “The Children Left Behind.” It looks at 24 of the world’s wealthiest countries to see where each nation ranks in terms of children’s health, education and material well-being.

The question being asked is, “How far behind are children being allowed to fall?”

Researchers were eager to better understand inequality in these OECD countries, specifically among middle and lower class youth prone to falling behind. They hope their results bring to light injustice and inspire countries to meet the needs of their most vulnerable citizens.

The countries with the greatest equality were Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The lowest ranked were Greece, Italy and our very own United States. Read the full report here.
